Haswell - the new generation of Intel processors

New generation Intel Core processors (the fourth in line) received an architecture with the code name Haswell. The process technology is 22 nm. Presentation is expected on June 3, 2013, and sales will begin on July 2. They will be presented at the IT exhibition Computex 2013.Haswell

Features:

  • Optimized energy consumption;
  • Optimized data processing;
  • Improved parallel data processing efficiency;
  • Models with DDR4 support will be available;
  • New "deep sleep" mode;
  • 2 and 4 core models;
  • More efficient integrated graphics core;
  • Support for DirectX 11.1 by the graphics core;
  • Level 4 cache for the video core.
The new "deep sleep" mode requires power supply units with a minimum of 0.05 A support on the 12 V bus, compared to 0.5 A for Ivy Bridge.

If the power supply unit does not support this mode, it will simply shut down when transitioning to "deep sleep".

In this article, they write that the cpu performance increases by 7-8% compared to the previous generation, and the graphics core performance increases by an impressive 30%.

A new chipset will be required to use Intel Haswell.
